Santa Monica Beach by Amanda Friedman in Santa Monica Beach, Hollywood, California, USA

This was shot in November on a night where the marine layer had rolled into Santa Monica.

I love how the atmosphere really lights up and the lifeguard station is so tiny. Often times you see photos of the LA beaches during the day, packed with people laying out, playing sports or swimming and I was interested in capturing a more quiet, peaceful moment. Thats what I love about living in this city. There are so many different sides to it.

A perfect day in Los Angeles?  Sleeping in. Catching a movie. Hiking at Runyon Canyon for amazing views of the entire LA basin.

For the visitor? Visit the LACMA and the Getty Center.

A perfect meal? Gjelina in Venice. Delicious.

A little known fact about Los Angeles: Despite its image of an oasis with water and palm trees everywhere, LA is more like a desert, with an annual rainfall of only 15 inches.

Your favorite place in the world? So hard to pick just one place! Tie between Virgin Gorda, BVI’s, Thailand and Tulum, Mexico.
