Saudade by Leandro Guardado in Lisbon

Saudade” is a Portuguese word used to describe the feeling of missing something or someone. My Saudade photo series is the result of the quest to define that feeling. The photos are a vision from the past. It’s a personal vision and not a universal one. Saudade is about memory, but it isn’t an exercise of remembering. It’s a process where emotions are filtered into images. The final result of the series could only be sad, because its essence is in the past, and the past never returns. But it’s also joyful, because it‘s a celebration of the beauty contained in simple things.
