Can you sum up Philadelphia? Diverse, tough, exciting, fresh, and absolutely gorgeous.

What is a perfect day in Philadelphia? Waking up early to catch the sunrise and walking around one of the many great neighborhoods in the city with some friends.

If Philadelphia was a person or character who would it be and why? Yo! Gotta go Rocky here. That underdog, never-give-up mentality resonates throughout the city, and motivates the residents to constantly strive for something more, something better.

How long have you been using Instagram? I have been more focused on creating artistic Instagram posts for the last 2.5 years or so. I began using the app itself in 2011.

Do you shoot with your phone or other cameras or both? I have been using primarily my camera (Fujifilm X100t) but I do tend to mix in some phone shots. The iPhone camera has come a long way and it really captures the subject well (sometimes better than the actual camera).

What is your editing process? I use the VSCO app on my phone. I transfer the photos from my camera directly to my phone and upload into VSCO. I find myself using filters C6-C9 or E1-E4 most often.

Has Instagram/phoneography affected how you shoot? It definitely has, and in a positive way. Instagram reinvigorated my passion of photography, starting with just a phone, then moving onto professional cameras and equipment. It’s been a catalyst to improve my technique and knowledge of photography.

Can you give a couple tips to aspiring Instagram photographers? Just go out and shoot. Waking up early to catch the sunrise may seem like a chore, but the payoff is so great. Walk around, explore new places, don’t be afraid to fail. Instagram is a great platform to connect with other photographers in your area who can inspire and help your photography.

Who are your three favorite Instagrammers? My three friends @billycress, @austinxc04, and @rachel.hara who I explore with and gain inspiration from daily.
