Argonne Community Garden by Grant Ernhart in San Francisco, California, USA

Argonne was the site of my little slice of the agrarian dream, well at least for awhile. The fact that, it is situated about a mile and a half from the blustery Pacific Ocean and is situated on a piece of real estate that under normal circumstances should be sand dunes, did not make it the most fecund piece of arable land. In fact, all that really grew well here, without a major struggle against the natural order, was lettuce. Lettuce and kale. And the most amazing orange poppies.

A perfect day in San Francisco? A perfect day for me is a day where I feel like I accomplished a few things balanced with time to do other things just for fun. In this case I would work on a few clients or spend a few hours in the studio and then have time to play banjo, meet friends, read and journal at one of my favorite places and then grab a fantastic meal accompanied with interesting conversation.

What and where is a perfect meal in the place you call home? Lately, I have been obsessed with a restaurant called Aziza, modern Moroccan. Great atmosphere, great food, one Michelin star and only a few blocks from home. The meal itself would begin with a Rhubarb and Rose gin Cocktail and then an appetizer of grilled calamari and octopus followed by the lamb shank with preserved lemons, all topped off by a Blue Bottle coffee and whatever beautiful dessert they are serving that night.

A little known fact about where you live? It is pretty cool here, all year long. Definitely pack a sweater.
