Battleground Lake by Lassen Davis in Battleground, Washington

This was taken at Battleground Lake in washington, about a 40 minute drive from Portland. Grab some friends, a few floaties and some beer and head over on a nice day. If you walk past the first spot where all the people and crying babies usually are, you can follow a trail around the lake and find a lot more quiet areas that are surrounded by big beautiful green trees. The water feels like a bath, its very still and surprisingly warm. Which also makes it pretty perfect for bacteria! I’ll admit it’s not the cleanest lake, but if a thin layer of bugs doesn’t bother you (which if you’re going to a lake in the first place, it shouldn’t) then this is the perfect spot for a relaxing float. I will definitely be going back.

Tell us about the place you live:

Portland is an easy place to live. If you can deal with the long gray winters (or maybe you like the rain), it’s worth it. I forget how pretty and lush it is here. We are the most sustainable city in america, and we proudly have the most microbreweries, and strip clubs per capita. Something for everyone.

A perfect day?

At this time of year, finding a place to hang outdoors with friends on a crisp 65 degree day would be ideal for me.

What is the best thing about your spot?

Currently I’m in love with the abundance of cheap sushi and burritos.

What is the worst?

When it pours for weeks

What would be surprising about this place to an outsider?

Nothing, all the rumors are true

Before I die I want to visit:

Well I’m excited for my upcoming trip to indonesia, so hopefully I don’t die before that.

Who are three of your favorite artists?

Oh I hate picking favorites, i’m too indecisive. my taste is ever-changing and there is so much talent everywhere.
