Laguna De Santa Rosa by Brian Gaberman in Sebastopol, California

A summers day on the Laguna where a lot of organic produce is grown. In winter this land is completely underwater and we slosh around with high boots, watching the gophers swim by.

Tell us about the place you live:

Sebastopol, California is progressive small town USA, where you can eat the best local foods, drink the best local wines, antique/salvage shop all day long, and actually support a local economy. Don’t miss Hardcore coffee.

A perfect day?

Watch the sunrise, drink Hardcore Coffee, eat brunch at Gypsy Cafe, salvage shop for a while, drive out Bodega Highway to the Freestone Bakery, eat amazing baked goods and visit the garden there, hit the blustery coast in Bodega Bay, drive back into town and have dinner and a beer at The Barlow somewhere. Hit Screamin Mimi’s Ice Cream for dessert if you’re up for it.

What is the best thing about your spot?

One of the last holdout towns that still pushes a local economy and tries to keep out the big corporations.

What is the worst?

The constant battle to keep out the corporations and unsustainable wine growers.

What would be surprising about this place to an outsider?

That’s it’s small, but not podunk.

Tom Waits house

Who are three of your favorite artists?
