Misty Winter Sunday by Monica Ney Eriksson in Kungsbacka, Sweden

The picture was shot on a cold and misty afternoon in the Tjolöholm Castle garden. There was snow which is unusual here. The day I took this photo there was magical light made for photography! It is a lovely castle with beautiful surroundings situated just by the sea on the Swedish west coast. It is one of the main tourist attractions near Kungsbacka where I live. It’s a perfect place to spend a day of your holidays or weekend. During the summer you can go to the beach, have a picnic or stroll in the beautiful garden. Why not attend a guided tour inside the castle and afterwards have a coffee at one of the cafes, too?!

Tell us about Kungsbacka:

Kungsbacka is a small town on the west coast of Sweden. The best thing is the closeness to the sea. You can choose a new beach with sand or harsh cliffs every day. A visit in the summer is highly recommended!

A perfect day?

Spending a summer day on one of the beaches. Then going home to have a barbecue with family and friends. In the evening watching the sun go down, sitting on a cliff just enjoying life and the Swedish summer!

What is the best thing about Kungsbacka?

The closeness to the sea and nature while still being close to the bigger city of Gothenburg.

What is the worst?

Winter is very humid with more rain than snow. Summer makes up for it though!

What would be surprising about Kungsbacka to an outsider?

The untouched nature, the very special seascape.

If Kungsbacka was a person or character who would it be?

A harsh and strong person if you look at the landscape!

Who are three of your favorite artists?

The Coen brothers, Dirty Loops, Amy Winehouse.
