New Laws for the New Year
2014 is in full swing. And if you’re like us, you’re already planning where to go and what to see in the next 12 months.
But heads up. Things have changed. The New Year brings new laws, and in some instances new freedoms, in destinations around the world.
Let us help you stay out of trouble. Here are six things you can’t do anymore:
Smoke cigarettes with a kid in the car in Oregon.
Drive with the headlights off in Switzerland.
Possess or sell shark fins in Delaware.
Use incandescent bulbs in Canada.
Harass celebrities’ kids in California.
Start a violent flash mob in Illinois.
But hey, you get some new rights too. Starting in 2014, you’ll be allowed to:
Smoke pot recreationally in Colorado.
Smoke pot recreationally in Washington.
Demand the police address you in formal French if you get arrested in Paris.
Get a free coffin if you die in Hungary.
Happy New Year Yodelers!
