Past and Future by Harsh Pareek in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India

Jaipur, among other things, is an old city; and despite the fact that numerous malls and showrooms are popping up everywhere, proof of it can be found in just about every corner, especially in the “old city”. It was one of the first architecturally designed city in India, home to the kings and royalty. It is home to some of the most stunning palaces and forts. And what I love doing is to capture them in all there glory.

Tell us about the place you live:

Jaipur is a blend of old and new, of past and the future.

A perfect day?

An overcast day with a light rain really brings out the colors of the city. It is usually very hot and any respite from the sun is welcomed. A walk in the old parts of the city in the coolness of the day is something to experience.

What is the best thing about your spot?

Access to great food and the culture.

What is the worst?

The heat and traffic.

What would be surprising about this place to an outsider?

The unruly traffic, the rush and the sheer number of people.

Before I die I want to visit:

Alaska, US

Who are three of your favorite artists?

Martin Scorsese, Paul Thomas Anderson, The Coen Brothers
