With towering cacti, epic sunsets, and star strewn skies; there are few places more breathtaking than the Sonoran Desert. Located on 60,000 acres of gorgeous desert landscape bordering the Saguaro National Park and the Coronado National Forest lies the historic Tanque Verde Ranch. Part dude ranch with 160 horses available for lessons and trail riding and part resort with over 120 staff members to keep operations running effortlessly, this outdoorsy resort stands out above the rest. With its attractive all inclusive packages including fun daily activities and riding lessons, three hearty meals, BBQ’s and live music, Tanque Verde attracts visitors from around the world. Unpretentious and family friendly, we love that Bob, (owner since 1969) still makes blueberry pancakes every Sunday up at the Old Homestead for his guests. Don’t miss out on the morning ride to breakfast!

You may ask yourself “What’s so special about riding?” First off, you’re seated on a 1,000 plus pound powerhouse of an animal which is in itself both beautiful and intimidating. Your experienced wrangler will teach you that every horse is an individual and you’ll need to connect with your horse to work together and master special skills. Rewarding, exhilarating, liberating; it’s a therapeutic experience and there’s nothing quite else like it in the world. Don’t worry if you’ve never ridden before. The Ranch accommodates all skill levels and welcomes beginners.

Tanque Verde Ranch is more than just a place to ride horses. Keep yourself as busy as you want with the daily scheduled activities. There’s yoga, tennis, watercolor classes, mountain biking, guided photography hikes, fishing, local wildlife presentations and kids activities galore. Feeling like you just want to unplug and relax? No TV’s in the rooms make it easy. Take a dip at the outdoor or indoor pool or get pampered and melt away any tension at the on-site La Sonora Spa with a body treatment or facial. We recommend staying at least 3 nights to get the full “dude ranch experience.”
