Place you live: San Luis Obispo, California
Place your photos were taken? San Luis Obispo County
Can you sum up San Luis Obispo? San Luis Obispo lives up to its reputation as the “Happiest Place in America.” It’s hard not to be happy here with the abundance of natural beauty and open spaces in this area.
What is a perfect day in San Luis Obispo? A typical Sunday funday for me is an early brunch at Kreuzberg, then head up to Paso Robles for some wine tasting on the west side of Hwy 46. After that, take Klau Mine Road up and over the hills to the coast and drop down into Cayucos to grab some Brown Butter Cookies before heading to Morro Bay for oysters and sunset at Tognazzini’s Dockside, then back home to SLO.
Do you shoot with your phone or other cameras or both? Both, but mostly my iPhone because it’s what I have with me all of the time. Otherwise, I shoot with Canon 70D.
Has Snapwire affected how you shoot? I mostly shoot while out exploring, but using Snapwire has definitely encouraged me to creatively explore more ideas than I normally have before. Whether or not I actually submit those images for a request, I usually at least attempt some shots to practice and see what I can create.
What is your editing process? I try to keep my editing process to a minimum with some slight tweaks with Snapseed or VSCO.
How long have you been using Snapwire? Just over one year.
Can you tell us about your experience using Snapwire? What do you like about it? Luckily enough, the very first photo I ever submitted on the app was purchased so I was immediately hooked. As I mentioned before, I like that it inspires me to create photos that I wouldn’t normally, regardless of whether I actually upload them or not.
Can you give a couple tips to aspiring Snapwire photographers? I think first and foremost, read the brief. I have seen a lot of entries where it was clear that specific details that were included in the request, were not conveyed in the photo, probably as a result of the user simply posting based on the name of the request.
